Nestled picturesquely between the Zeller See and the Schmittenhöhe – a mountain with glorious panoramic views – lies the small city of Zell am See. Numerous shops invite visitors to window-shop, stroll and relax; out on the lake, sailors, wind-surfers and swimmers all play to their heart’s content. In the winter months, when a thick layer of ice covers the lake, ice skaters truly come into their own.
You can also reach Zell am See via the Pinzgau Railway from Mittersill, giving you the opportunity to kick back and relax and truly enjoy the trip through the Oberpinzgau region. For an especially nostalgic experience, there’s perhaps nothing better than a ride on a steam train!
