Felberturm Museum, Mittersill
Felberturm Museum, Mittersill
Numerous exhibits depicting country arts and crafts, folk cultural and heritage, await you here in the most extensive collection of heritage artefacts anywhere in the SalzburgerLand.

The mineral exhibition is particularly noteworthy, featuring an array of treasures from the Hohe Tauern National Park region; the historic school room dating from the 19th century is also well worth a visit. Additionally, the museum holds special exhibitions focusing on sacred art, the history of Alpine skiing and country craftsmanship.

When originally opened, the museum was solely housed in the Felberturm, a defensive tower from the 12th century. Since then, it has expanded out onto the grounds which surround it, becoming in due course a veritable museum district. This now includes a traditional Pinzgau farmhouse, a museum of fire-fighting, as well as the rebuilt “Sengerhaus” dating back to 1609. Behind the tower, an old freight car from the local railway has its doors open to visitors - especially to the kids!
