Winter Hiking Enjoy our winter countryside in totally relaxed fashion, as you take a winter walk away from the bustling ski slopes. Cleared winter hiking paths take you out through magical snow-covered forests and alongside iced-over streams. Cafés and traditional inns invite you to enjoy refreshments in a warm and friendly setting, capping off a wonderful hiking experience.

Hiking Routes
We have compiled a selection of hikes just for you. The starting point for all the guided hikes is Stuhlfelden. Tips and maps for other outings in the snow are available from the tourist office.

>> Burgwiesweg

ca. 45 mins. – easy walk without any hills to climb
Lichtenau Castle – below the church towards Mittersill – Huber auto repair shop – Burgwies hotel & spa - Schweizerhaus – across the main highway - the Gössl Co. and out to the Salzach dam – along the dam wall to the Wilhelmsdorfer bridge - Stuhlfelden

>> Hiking path via Wilhelmsdorf to Felben
ca. 2 hrs. - leisurely hike without any climbs
Lichtenau Castle - Wilhelmsdorf – just before Wilhelmsdorf, make a right – along the bike path to Felben (site of a heritage museum) - through Mittersill - to Burk - Burkerweg – Burgwies hotel & spa – Huber auto repair shop - Stuhlfelden

>> Dürnbergweg
ca. 1.5 hrs. - easy hike with some uphill stages

Lichtenau Castle - Innerdorf – edge of town - Dürnberg supply road – as far as the Aigen café or on to the Sticklhof café and then return.

Relaxing hike, gently uphill
Lichtenau Castle - Innerdorf to the smithy – right and over the bridge - Bamerhof - Pirtendorf
a) at the Gasthof Oberzehentner, make a right and continue through the village and back to Stuhlfelden (45 mins.)

b) through Pirtendorf – highway underpass – across the railway line and continuing straight – over the Salzach bridge – along the Salzach dam and out to the Wilhelmsdorfer bridge - Stuhlfelden (ca. 70 mins.)

c) through Pirtendorf - highway underpass – across the railway line and continuing straight – prior to the Salzach bridge, take a right up the Salzach dam – now via the valley bottom of Pirtendorf to the Hörfarter – then through the village and back to Stuhlfelden (ca. 60 mins.)
