Bike trails everywhere The Hohe Tauern range and its imposing 3,000-meter peaks: mountain tarns, high valleys, lush alpine pastures, wild waterfalls and breathtaking views - all capped off by a top-notch 1,000 km network of cycle paths and mountain-bike trails ranging from easy to challenging: no wonder the Pinzgau is one of the most enticing biking regions in all of Austria! Whether you are planning a fun-filled family tour, or looking for new athletic challenges atop your mountain bike, a broad selection of clearly marked bike routes offers everyone plenty of selection and variety, accompanied by new experiences each and every day.
The Austrian Forestry Service has already opened up more than 2,300 km of mountain-bike trails between Vienna and Tyrol, creating a really attractive cycling network as a result. The Austrian Forestry Service Bike Guide gives a comprehensive overview of the routes. All of the trails are excellently sign-posted and are supported by an outstanding infrastructure.

TIP >> With your Guest Card, you can obtain the Bike Guide at a discounted price.

As a special service, some hotels have a fleet of bikes suitable for every family member. Area sporting goods stores also offer a wide range of rental bicycles.
The region is perhaps most famous for the Tauern Cycle Path, which begins in the Pinzgau and ends, 330 km later, in Passau. The Krimml Waterfalls are the starting point of this family-friendly route – the falls are the tallest in Central Europe and are located about 30 km west of Mittersill. The path takes us along the banks of the Salzach, past numerous natural monuments and sights, all of which are definitely well worth a detour and fill the ride with new and exciting experiences.
