Advent is a time of lived customs and old traditions in Mittersill-Hollersbach-Stuhlfelden. Here, “Krampus”-groups, wind ensembles and pastoral plays make the pre-Christmas atmosphere.
Besides gingerbread, mule wine, roasted chestnuts and baked potatoes, also handicrafts and delicacies from the region are offered. “Living workplaces” invite to see, touch and interact. Artisans and artists from the region let visitors take part in how their products are made.
Moreover, the shops offer the possibility to amble, degust and try: from organic products like chocolate, bacon and farmer bread over toys, accessories and souvenirs to Drindl and Lederhose everything can be found. To make the long wait for the Christkind easier for the children, a children’s theatre and crafting afternoons are offered.
In addition, Mittersill has Austria’s largest and most modern Nationalpark centre. The eight Nationalpark-Erlebniswelten use modern technology to make visible what is hidden in nature – and is a magnet for kids as well as adults.
A further plus of the region: the Panoramabahn brings guests into the unlimited skiing pleasure of 170 km ski runs in the Kitzbüheler Alpen. And so, the quiet time of the year turns into a winter dream of powdery snow, free downhill runs and affordable Advent-offers.
